Gymboree in Winston Salem is where I took my sign class! Madsion started to use signs probably around 11 months, but just recently started soaking up any one I taught her. It really is an amazing tool. :)

P.S. I agree with you that now is the time to teach them. I started way too early.. She didn't get it and it was frustrating in the the beginning.
